2 in 3 kids visit abroad by five

-

FAMILY holidays used to consist of a trip to the seaside. But children today can expect to have travelled to more exotic locations than their grandparents before they even start school.

A study found that 70 per cent of British children had travelled internationally by the age of five, compared with just 12 per cent of over-50s.

In fact the average adult did not go on their first overseas trip until they were 14, according to the survey of 2,000 by travel firm eDreams.

It also found that while those aged 18 to 29 had clocked up an average of 20 holidays – both abroad and domestic – by the time they turned 18, this fell to just 11 among the over-50s. This is thought to be due to increased disposable income, cheaper air fares and online booking.
