THE first of an astonishin­g 19 Grand Slam triumphs came when the 21-year-old Roger Federer demolished unseeded Australian Mark Philippous­sis on Centre Court.

2004 Beat ANDY RODDICK 4-6, 7-5, 7-6, 6-4

HIS first of three Wimbledon finals against big-serving American Andy Roddick was won in the rain after losing the first set.

2005 Beat RODDICK 6-2, 7-6, 6-4

RODDICK was again dispatched as Federer sealed a hat-trick of Wimbledon titles at little more than a canter, joining Pete Sampras and Bjorn Borg as the only players in the Open era to win three in a row.

2006 Beat RAFAEL NADAL 6-0, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3

AFTER losing five matches in a row to Rafael Nadal Federer delivered when it mattered most, digging deep to see off the Spaniard in four sets.

2007 Beat NADAL 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-2

HIS first five-set victory in a Wimbledon final drew him level with Borg as the only men to win five in a row. But it wasn’t without worry as Nadal pushed the Swiss right to his limits.

2009 Beat RODDICK 5-7, 7-6, 7-6, 3-6, 16-14

A TRUE epic. Winning a fifth set that lasted 95 minutes, Federer surpassed Sampras’s record of 14 Grand Slams in front of a rapturous Centre Court. In his post-match interview a tearful Roddick jokingly apologised to his fellow American for not holding Federer off.

2012 Beat ANDY MURRAY 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4

ANDY MURRAY became the first British man in the Wimbledon final since 1938 but Federer made it a sensationa­l seven with another masterclas­s.

2017 Beat MARIN CILIC 6-3, 6-1, 6-4

A PROCESSION towards a record eighth title for Federer. Marin Cilic required treatment on his left foot during the match, and was duly swept aside in straight sets.
