4 couples (including Harry girl) have sex on Love Island... but Ofcom still won’t act

IT was already the most tawdry show on television. And then four couples were filmed having sex during just one episode on Sunday night.

Yet despite Love Island plumbing new depths by the day, Ofcom has still refused to investigate the programme, claiming the audience are aware of its sexual content.

Nearly 100 complaints have so far been made about the ITV2 series, including 26 about it being incompatible with ‘generally accepted standards’. But Ofcom ruled yesterday that the 2million who regularly tune in expect to see adult themes and content.

‘Our rules to protect audiences are clear,’ it said. ‘We take into account a range of factors – including the time of broadcast, the likely audience, and whether the content was at all justified.’

Sunday’s show ended with eight contestants having sex. They included middle-class bomb disposal expert Camilla Thurlow, who was once linked to Prince Harry.

The 28-year- old supposedly caught the prince’s eye in the summer of 2014 and was rumoured to have kissed him in a London nightclub, although asked about him on the show she said: ‘A lady never tells.’

Miss Thurlow had seemed wholesome and innocent during Love Island’s first six weeks. Her background hardly made her a likely reality TV star – she attended one of Britain’s top public schools, Fettes College in Edinburgh, and played lacrosse for Scotland. She has also worked for the Halo Trust, a charity close to Princess Diana’s heart. Yet Miss Thurlow has now pole-danced, dated three different men and answered questions about her sexual habits.

And on Sunday night she demonstrated she has fully embraced the vulgar nature of the show as she had sex in the communal bedroom with Calvin Klein model Jamie Jewitt. Night vision cameras installed throughout the Majorcan villa also showed three other couples having sex. Last night she spoke in graphic detail about Jewitt’s prowess. The couple are now 7/4 favourites to win the show and share the £50,000 prize in next Monday’s live final.
