EILEEN BUTTON, a 27-year- old former WAAF [Women’s Auxiliary Air Force], today married Egon Behler, her 23- year- old German language teacher, in the first known case in which a British girl has married a German in Germany since the war. The wedding took place in Frankfurt.

A LANCASHIRE firm has cancelled plans to produce hundreds of Coronation handkerchi­efs bearing a portrait of the Queen, following a ban on such reproducti­ons by the Coronation authoritie­s. A Manchester handkerchi­ef manufactur­er said yesterday: ‘The strange thing is that the Queen’s portrait can be reproduced on a head-square.’
