Good korma... Lost wedding ring found in a frozen curry

- Daily Mail Reporter

MOTHER-OF-TWO Annie Robb will always be glad she defrosted her freezer before moving house. Twelve months earlier her husband Chris had thought he’d lost his white gold wedding ring while playing football with friends.

He even combed the pitch for 45 minutes and used a metal detector to try to locate it. But the couple from St Albans, Hertfordshire, eventually concluded the engraved ring was gone for good.

That is until Mrs Robb, 50, spotted a long-forgotten frozen takeaway meal last week. ‘We’ve just sold our house, so I decided to clear out the freezer,’ she said. ‘There was a dodgy looking curry in there, so I got it out. I was going to throw it away but I wanted to defrost it so there was no water in the bin.’

As the curry defrosted, she was astonished to spot the ring emerging. Describing the moment she found it, she said: ‘I could see something that looked like a bottle top. It was all shiny and sparkly. It was just incredible. I couldn’t speak.

‘We were both quite upset when he lost it so when I handed it to him he was completely dumbfounded. It was amazing, it was very special.’

Her astonished husband (pictured) could only say: ‘You are kidding me’, before adding: ‘How on earth… How did it get in a curry?’

Mrs Robb, 49, added: ‘We have no idea how it got in the curry. It’s really spooky. It’s lucky I spotted it when it was partially defrosted, otherwise the ring would have gone in the bin.’

Mr Robb, father to Jasper, 13, and Scarlett, nine, said: ‘Annie asked me if I could think of anything I had lost in the past year that meant a lot to me. I was just astonished. I’m hugely relieved.’
