A 16-YEAR- OLD German girl who ran away to join Islamic State has been captured in the ruins of Mosul, it was claimed yesterday.

Linda Wenzel is said to have been caught in a tunnel network with up to 20 other women believed to be from the terror group’s fearsome all-female police force.

Some were reportedly wearing suicide vests and carrying automatic weapons when found in the Iraqi city.

A picture shared on social media shows a white girl wearing long, black robes with a green and black scarf around her neck being led through ruins.

Another shows her with bedraggled hair wearing a blue T-shirt. German prosecutors listed Linda as a potential terror suspect after she disappeared from Pulsnitz, near Dresden, last July.

They were working to determine if the girl in the pictures is definitely her after reports in the Die Welt newspaper citing security sources. The capture came after IS lost control of Iraq’s second largest city following a ten-month battle.

Linda fled her home after forging a letter from her mother Catherine which allowed her to withdraw money from a bank and buy a ticket to Istanbul. She is said to have then gone to Syria after reportedly falling for a Muslim man she met online who persuaded her to join him there.
