Homo Blackadder ... the ‘lost’ series

-

THE creators of Blackadder wanted to make a politically incorrect new series about the origin of man – called Homo Blackadder.

But John Lloyd, the show’s producer, said it did not happen because he felt the finale of the fourth series, set in the trenches during the First World War, could not be topped.

Speaking at the Latitude Festival in Suffolk, he said: ‘There were so many ideas in the pipeline. My favourite idea, perhaps not very politically correct, was the original Blackadder set in the dawn of time, called Homo Blackadder.

‘Baldrick is king of the monkeys and out of the forest comes Homo Blackadder, the first true man, and says “Baldrick, I’ll take it from here”.’
