CHANCeLLOR Philip Hammond has been reported as saying that driving a train is so easy even a woman could do it.

This comes after pensions minister Guy Opperman suggested the 3.5 million women born in the fifties take up apprenticeships as a route to re- employment while waiting for their now delayed state pension.

I would like to put my name forward as an apprentice train driver — just as long as I don’t have to park the blooming thing!
