Pedalling Dreams: The Raleigh Story, 9pm, BBC4

THE bewitching story of Raleigh bikes, which was founded in 1888 by Frank Bowden, whom doctors had given six months to live. He took up cycling, thrived and soon after created Raleigh. Quality was a top priority, and some of those early bikes still work today.

UNTIL 1939, Edgar Feuchtwang­er lived over the road from Hitler in Munich. ‘I shared a dentist with h Hitler,’ says Edgar (pictured) in one of many small stories that present the Germanman leader in a human light, which makes his crimes all the more incredible.
