LEIGH forward Jamie Acton has been banned for nine games after admitting a charge of ‘other contrary behaviour’. Acton, 25, grabbed the shirt of Catalans Dragons player Greg Bird as he lay injured on the floor, lifted him and then pushed him down during the Centurions’ Super League defeat in Perpignan on July 1.

BRITAIN’S Jack Burnell missed out on a medal at the open water World Championships, finishing fourth in the 10km event in Budapest yesterday. Burnell, who considered retiring after his controversial disqualification at last year’s Olympics, finished 2.3seconds behind winner Ferry Weertman of Holland. ‘I’m gutted,’ said Burnell.
