Spurs must pay more to get shot of Sissoko

- By SAMI MOKBEL

TOTTENHAM face the prospect of having to pay record signing Moussa Sissoko to leave the club this summer.

The France international, 27, has indicated he is keen to leave White Hart Lane after failing to play regularly under Mauricio Pochettino last season.

Similarly, Tottenham are ready to cut their losses on a player they paid a staggering £30million for on the final day of last summer’s transfer window.

However, Sissoko’s wages — believed to be in the region of £85,000 per week — are proving a major stumbling block. Marseille have shown an interest but are reluctant to match the former Newcastle man’s existing deal. Spurs face the possibility of having to supplement Sissoko’s wages to move him on.

Meanwhile, Kieran Trippier has signed a new five-year contract, worth in the region of £60,000 per week.

The 26-year-old is expected to line up as Mauricio Pochettino’s first- choice right back next season following the sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

Trippier said: ‘I am delighted with the new deal, it’s a great achievement for me.

‘It’s been a great experience and a learning experience.’
