Clooney proves he’s no Nimby

-

WHen George and Amal Clooney heard their berkshire neighbour was to build flats opposite their home, they might have been outraged.

but happily, the lady who submitted the plans is a friend of the couple and they have not filed complaints. The flats are to be built at The mill theatre in Sonning, run by Sally Hughes, who has had the Clooneys watch performances and allowed them to use her car park for the many contractors renovating their nine-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion, which they bought for £7.5 million in 2014 and have since spent £12.5 million doing up.

Hughes is building the flats to help pay a £1 million bill caused by woodworm in the theatre’s structure.
