WIMBLEDON WOES

-

We had two tickets for Wimbledon, The Centre Court was great, But all those players pulling out, We want a big rebate. We saw old Djok and Roger, too, They won their games with ease. Then Roger said: ‘Let’s play a game. And let us earn our fees.’ And Andy played on through the mist, Of all those flying ants, And jumped around the Centre Court, When he found them in his pants. The strawberries were over-priced, The Pimm’s and champagne, too, And all this shocked this canny Scot, I think that I will sue! My wife she is a tennis fan, The big games she remembers, But the highlight of that sunny day, Was lunch with all the members. And so we had a lovely day. I’m glad we had some passes With seats already there for us, To watch the lads and lassies! B. Harkins, Bourne End, Herts.
