Life or death battles
WHILe attention has focused on the High Court battle over baby Charlie Gard, another life-and- death case has quietly been playing out in the same building.
noel Conway, 67, is also terminally ill. He is in the advanced stages of Motor neurone Disease and wants the law changed to allow a doctor to assist him to die when his health deteriorates further. Mr Conway is in pain and relies on a ventilator to breathe — not unlike Charlie. How bitterly ironic that, while Charlie’s parents are fighting for their son’s right to live, Mr Conway is pressing — with equal desperation — for the right to take his life.
