Teen girl stuffed in fridge in ‘honour killing’

- By Jim Norton and Rebecca Camber

A TEENAGE girl was stabbed to death and stuffed in a fridge in a suspected honour killing at a £1.5 million home.

another young woman escaped despite being knifed in the neck, and banged on neighbours’ doors before staggering to a hospital.

detectives are now investigating whether the two women, aged 19 and 21, knew their attacker and were kidnapped.

a 33-year-old man has been arrested in dover as he tried to flee the country, it is understood. another man and woman were also arrested.

Police were called to the property in south-west london over fears for the welfare of the women, believed to be cousins, on wednesday at 5pm.

But it took three hours for officers to find the body of the teenager – reportedly stashed inside a fridge freezer – at the six-bedroom detached house in Kingston upon Thames.

The owners of the property, who live next door, are turning the home into two houses and are believed to have given the keys to a building firm.

yesterday their daughter-in-law said the family had nothing to do with the attack. Police said officers had been unable to find the women after checking two houses in Merton and Sutton, southwest london. But they did not find the body until after about 8pm when the second woman was admitted to hospital and revealed the address. The 21-year-old was still in hospital last night.

Police are understood to be probing whether it could have been an honour killing.

detective Chief inspector Samantha Price said: ‘i am keeping an open mind as to the motive, but we are not currently looking for anyone else.’

The 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after detectives traced him to an address in Kent. a second man, aged 28, was stopped by police while driving in nearby new Malden and was also arrested on suspicion of murder. last night both were in custody.

a woman, 29, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender but was released on Thursday.

neighbour Bernett Thrones, 39, said: ‘i could hear running on the gravel drive and then a loud knock. it was very sudden and very loud ... By the time i opened the door the person was gone. it was strange but i didn’t realise how serious it was until the police came later.’

The independent Police Complaints Commission has been referred to the case due to the police’s delay in finding the body.
