Poker grandad wins £2million
THE amateur poker-playing grandad who travelled from Yorkshire to Las Vegas for a world tournament has won £2million.
John Hesp, pictured, came fourth, beating 7,000 players. He had previously only played in £10 tournaments in Hull. He said: ‘I’ve been living the dream.’
He returns home tomorrow to Bridlington, where he has a caravan-selling firm. Employee Karl Smalley said: ‘It doesn’t surprise me, John’s a nutter.’ Friend David Rands said Mr Hesp, 64, who wore a bright jacket and Panama hat at the table, doesn’t have a poker face and rarely wins at home.
