Passenger tries to open jet’s door mid-flight

-

A PASSENGER was wrestled to the floor and restrained by fellow travellers after he tried to open a door during a flight.

Police arrested the man, who was said to be Polish and in his twenties, after the Wizz Air flight landed at Luton Airport on Saturday night.

Around 30 minutes before landing, the man moved to sit next to a woman by the emergency exit over the wing, passenger David Salon said.

He added: ‘Suddenly he lunged across her and tried to open the door. She was terrified. Luckily there were three big Polish men in the row behind and they and some other passengers wrestled him to the floor and sat on him.’

Wizz Air said the man had become ‘unruly and abusive’ during the flight from Katowice International Airport in south Poland. Mr Salon added that the man had been ‘acting weirdly on the bus on the way to the plane in Poland’.

Bedfordshire Police said he was taken to hospital with minor injuries before being questioned on suspicion of endangering an aircraft.
