What’s the best way to zap my bingo wings?

- Dr Tracy Mountford

Q I AM 55 and getting married again. I’ve found a dress I love, but it has capped sleeves. Although I’m slim, I’m self-conscious about the sagging skin on my arms. Are there any nonsurgical treatments that can help my baggy upper arms? A ARM fat, or ‘bingo wings’, is usually caused by fat that builds up over time, or from a genetic predisposition. Women often develop unsightly fat on the upper arm after the menopause, too.

Sensible weight loss if necessary, and working out (specifically your triceps) helps, but there are also a number of non- surgical treatments that will eliminate excess fat in this area. They involve either heating or cooling the fat cells.

Coolsculpting is a noninvasive fat-freezing treatment that gently targets fat cells just below the surface of the skin.

There is a new device that treats the upper-arm area in just 35 minutes (from £1,440 for both arms). Results can be seen in as little as four weeks, with optimum results seen at eight weeks. Once fat cells are gone, they are gone for good.

It may well be worth combining a skin-tightening treatment, such as Thermage Comfort Pulse Technology or Ultherapy, with Coolsculpting for optimum results.
