HOW THE DRAMA UNFOLDED ON THE 13th HOLE

5.05pm Spieth sends his tee shot at the 13th way right and it disappears behind a hill.

5.10 His ball is found at the bottom of the bank, plugged into the hill. He decides to take an unplayable drop and incurs a one-shot penalty.

5.13 Kuchar ramps up the pressure by taking his second shot and lands it in the heart of the green.

5.15 Spieth tries to determine where he can drop his ball. It looks as if he is going to drop it on the practice range but he is concerned the equipment trucks are blocking his line of sight.

5.17 His caddie is on top of the hill trying to judge the best line and distance back to the fairway, which is about 127 yards.

5.27 He hits a remarkable recovery from the driving range and lands just short of the green.

5.29 Spieth apologises to Kuchar for what was a 20-minute delay.

5.30 He chips on to the green before holing his bogey putt.
