Two in court over rape and murder of teenager

A TEENAGER whose family did not approve of her relationship with another Muslim was kidnapped before being raped and killed, a court heard yesterday.

The body of Celine Dookhran, 19, was found inside a £1.5million six-bedroom house after another young woman who had her throat slit in the attack was taken to hospital.

Mujahid Arshid, 33, appeared before magistrates in Wimbledon, south- west London, charged with murder, rape, and kidnap. Vincent Tappu, 28, was charged with kidnap.

The court was told that Miss Dookhran had been in a rela-

tionship with an Arab Muslim and her family did not approve because they were Indian Muslims. Binita Roscoe, prosecuting, said two men in balaclavas stormed into a house near Wimbledon where Miss Dookhran was living with the woman, who is in her twenties, last Wednesday morning.

A Taser was used to subdue them and they were tied up and driven to Kingston where they were raped. Miss Dookhran died from a wound to the neck. Her body was found after doctors treating the other woman for stab wounds tipped off police. Tappu, of Ealing, and Arshid, who gave no fixed address, were remanded in custody until a hearing at the Old Bailey on August 21.
