Stalker jailed for sending DJ Sara Cox creepy letters

- Daily Mail Reporter

A CONVICTED paedophile who sent distressing letters to Radio 2 DJ Sara Cox has been jailed.

Stalker Anthony Collins, 50, called the BBC broadcaster ‘sexy’ in the letters.

He bought address details of Miss Cox online and sent her disturbing messages in distinctive felt tip capital letters.

When police arrested him they found a fake BBC visitor’s pass, the work address of Miss Cox’s sister, and indecent images of girls aged four to 15.

Miss Cox reported the harassment to the BBC after he sent a letter to her husband Ben Cyzer at his work address, which made her feel ‘immediately more scared’. The letter included a picture of Miss Cox holding a child, and a diagram with the words ‘Cancer Analysis’.

Collins, who has mixed personality disorder, listed her personal details in the letters, adding: ‘I have done my research online.’ Prosecutor Mary Jacobson told Maidstone Crown Court: ‘ She was extremely concerned and informed her work place. That envelope contained two letters in capital letters in different coloured felt tip pen. They told her about himself and his feelings for her.’

In one letter, he told her he was poor, living unhappily in a bedsit and asked her to invite him to the Radio 2 studios.

Collins, of Chatham, Kent, also wrote: ‘You care a lot about people because it is in your nature, do not feel sorry for me Sara. Sara you are a lovely human being, sexy, attractive and an all round fantastic human being.’

At an earlier hearing Collins admitted harassment without violence, possessing indecent images of a child and making indecent images of a child.

The judge imposed a sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order.

Collins has eight convictions for 13 offences dating back to 1991. He was yesterday sentenced to 16 months in jail.
