Intruders target grave

-

INTRUDERS tried to reach Princess Diana’s body in a string of break-ins at her family’s estate, her brother revealed yesterday.

Diana is buried on an island in an ornamental lake known as The Oval, within the 13,000-acre Althorp estate in Northamptonshire.

Earl Spencer said: ‘We’ve had four attempted break-ins towards her body in the last 20 years, and I’m very glad we’ve seen all of them off.

‘There are some odd people out there and keeping her right here is the safest place.’

He added: ‘It seemed natural to want to bury her here and I wanted to keep her safe. There was such a sort of whipped-up feeling of emotion everywhere that I was very worried about where we could safely bury her.’
