How the joy drained out of me, by Lorraine

-

LORRAINE Kelly has spoken frankly of how the menopause stopped her ‘seeing the joy in things’ and how using HRT helped her.

The 57-year-old TV presenter said hormonal changes meant she no longer recognised herself.

‘I lost my mojo,’ she said. ‘I didn’t feel like me ... I wouldn’t say I was depressed at all but I wasn’t seeing much joy in things.’

The mother of one, who is still going through the menopause, admitted that she initially struggled to work out why she felt down.

She said: ‘I kept thinking, “Hang on a minute, I’ve got a brilliant job and, more importantly, I’ve got a great family and pals – what’s wrong with me?”’

Kelly said she did not confide in her husband of 25 years, Steve Smith, or her 23-year-old daughter ‘I tend to plaster a smile on and just get on with it,’ she said.

But after speaking to her close friend, TV doctor Hilary Jones, Kelly started using HRT patches. ‘They’re fantastic and rebalanced me,’ she told Closer magazine.
