GOOD luck to all the BBC staff who have managed to secure outrageous salaries for jobs most people would do for a fraction of the cost. I’m intrigued by the person responsible for setting the figures. The director-general says he has to pay top money to secure ‘extraordinary talent’. Maybe these stars could inform us what extraordinary talent they possess. DAVe sWeeneY, Kilbirnie, Ayrshire. YOU can’t blame Gary Lineker for taking the cash. It’s the idiots who authorise such contracts for a poorquality presenter who should be answerable for wasting licencepayers’ money. If I watch Match Of The Day, I turn off the sound and fast-forward between matches. B. CHAPMAn, scarborough, n. Yorks. FOLLOWING the revelations about the payments to BBC presenters, how is it possible that the Prime Minister’s salary is only £150,000? The position calls for someone with a wide range of qualities. It beggars belief that the BBC pays so much more to Chris Evans, Gary Lineker and Graham Norton, whose roles are fun and nonsense. The BBC claims market forces cannot be ignored. The Prime Minister’s market is Britain, which he or she has five years to improve. Surely it is time for the powers who set the PM’s salary to review it. JOHn BORneO, Bath. I’M pLEASED to see the BBC has discovered the money tree. It’s called the TV licence-payer. R. BenneTT, Cheltenham, Glos. THE BBC is loved and respected all over the globe. It is synonymous with balance and truth and worth every penny of the licence fee. COLLin ROssini, Dovercourt, essex.
