THE LAST MAN TO GIVE IT BOTH BARRELS

-

TOBY ROLAND-JONES will today become the first man with a double-barrelled surname to play Test cricket for England since 1935. Then, Norman Stewart MitchellInnes, known as Mandy Mitchell-Innes, played his only Test against South Africa at Trent Bridge. The all-rounder, (right) was still studying at Oxford at the time. He only batted once, scoring five runs. He missed the next Test due to hay fever and was never called up again. His entry into the Sudan Political Service limited his career with Somerset. He died aged 92 in 2006 and at the time was England’s oldest living Test cricketer.
