Root’s rally cry for England batsmen

CAPTAIN Joe Root has warned England’s batsmen they cannot repeat the same mistakes that led to a crushing second Test defeat by South Africa. On the eve of the 100th Test at The Oval, with the series tied at 1-1, Root said: ‘We have to find a way to get through those periods in a game when it can be a bit tough. Last week was not good enough. We really want to get it right at The Oval.’ England will give debuts to batsman Tom Westley and seamer Toby Roland-Jones, while Dawid Malan may come into the middle order for his first Test as well.
