Not just form-filling

-

AS A TRANSgENDER parent, I wholeheartedly agree with Sarah Vine that government plans to make changing your official gender simply a matter of form-filling are not in the interests of the trans community.

A trans woman or trans man who has been through counselling, spent a long time on cross- gender hormones and had surgery has earned the right to change gender.

But allowing anyone to administra-tively change their sex is a recipe for trouble. This measure will generate ill-will towards trans people and undermine our interests.

It risks creating the kind of contro-versy that in the U.S. has resulted in laws banning post- operative trans women from using female toilets.

Ms Vine is right to question the wisdom of ‘turning little boys into eunuchs before they’ve really had any sort of life experience’.

Our state schools, with their overwhelming number of women teachers, feminised ethos and agenda of female empowerment, were already factories of emasculation before the obsession with finding trans kids.

It is sadly predictable that the Tory party, which long ago forgot that the family is the basis of society, has latched on to the equal-ocrats’ mad interpretation of the best interests of the trans community.
