Beside the seaside
WHAT wonderful memories were evoked when I read Marianne Power’s article on her family holidays in Ballybunion (Mail). I, too, used to holiday at this Irish seaside resort with my mother.
We enjoyed the safe beaches and clambering around the rock pools and in the caves.
In my teens, I went to the dances in the Central Hotel ballroom and strolled along Castle Green with a boyfriend, ever mindful of the patrolling parish priest.
My mother’s last wish was for her ashes to be scattered there as it held such precious memories for her. A truly special place then and now. ELAINE BENNETT, Gidea Park, Essex.
