Owner who wrecked his £260,000 dream Ferrari... just one HOUR after he bought it

- By Tom Witherow

AT £260,000 and with a top speed of 198mph, the black Ferrari 430 Scuderia would have been the owner’s pride and joy – well, for an hour at least.

The supercar was destroyed in a ball of flames after sliding off the M1 near Barnsley about 60 minutes after it was picked it up. Miraculously, the unnamed driver escaped with just cuts and bruises, although police said there had also been a ‘hint of damaged pride’.

The picture was posted online by officers after motorists were left in long queues following Thursday’s incident, which happened during wet conditions on the road.

Noting speed was not a factor in the accident, South Yorkshire Police said: ‘Officers asked the driver what sort of car he had, to which he replied “It was a Ferrari. I only picked it up an hour ago”.’
