Manhunt after girl is raped twice in one night

- By Claire Duffin

POLICE have released CCTV images of two men sought after a young girl was raped twice in the same night.

The 14- year- old was with a friend at a Birmingham railway station when she was led away and assaulted.

Shortly after that attack, the girl walked out of the station and stopped a passing vehicle to ask for help, but after getting in the car she was raped a second time by another man.

Detectives said the teenager was first attacked in a secluded part of Witton railway station, near the Aston Villa football ground, some time between 8pm on Tuesday and 2am Wednesday morning.

Officers from the joint British Transport Police and West Midlands Police investigation team have now released CCTV images of two men they want to speak to following the horrific attacks.

They have also revealed another man was thought to have been present in the moments leading up to the station attack.

The first man who approached the victim is described as Asian with light skin, brown eyes, was of slim build and about 6ft tall.

He was wearing a tracksuit top and bottoms, black trainers and was in his early 20s. The other man in the train station is described as Asian in his early 20s, 5ft 6in or 7in tall, of large build with a tight- cropped beard and was wearing a blue jumper and black jeans.

The man in the vehicle is described as thick- set, about 5ft 6in tall, with large biceps.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Fitzpatrick, of British Transport Police, said: ‘We are releasing multiple CCTV images of men we wish to speak with. I would like to hear from anyone who might know who these men are.’

Specialist officers are continuing to support the victim, whose age was initially given as 15 by police.

Witton is a busy commuter station around five miles from Birmingham city centre. There are around 16 CCTV cameras covering the platforms, walkways and a waiting area.

The station is, however, unmanned and two further waiting areas are only opened on match days.

Witton and the surrounding areas of north Birmingham have long been plagued by assaults and knife crime.

On Tuesday, three men were arrested a mile from Witton after they kidnapped another man and forced him into their car.
