Don’t you know who I am? asks John Cleese
JoHn CLeese recently labelled Donald Trump supporters the ‘stupidest people you have ever met’ — but it seems american hotel staff score poorly in his IQ stakes, too.
The former Monty Python star, known for his slapstick Ministry of silly Walks sketch, has blasted the ‘pure stupidity’ he encountered while in Miami earlier this year.
In his recent address at the oxford Union, Cleese told students how he left his shoes in the spa at a hotel.
When a hapless employee returned them to his room, the employee said: ‘Here are your shoes, Mr Cleese. Can I have some identification?’ naturally, four-times-married Cleese, 77, had a copy of his autobiography with his face on the cover. ‘so I held [the book] up to my face and I said: “You see, that’s my face and that’s my name.”
‘and he [the employee] said: “I’m sorry, that’s not good enough.” ’ Much like Cleese’s jokes these days . . .
