Pay cut for carpet chief

THE chief executive of retailer Carpetright saw his pay slashed after profits were almost wiped out.

Wilf Walsh, 54, was paid £800,000, compared to £819,000 the year before, as his bonus was scrapped after Carpetright posted a 93pc plunge in profits in the year to April – from £12.8m to £900,000. It was the second year of falling sales, down 2.6pc to £381m.
