Wouldn’t it be nice to be Sir Brian, says Beach Boy
SOME stars get their PR spivs to lobby for honours, but Beach Boys star Brian Wilson is happy to blow his own trumpet.
‘I would love to hear the words “Sir Brian Wilson”,’ the American singer tells me. ‘British audiences are so much more appreciative of my music than American audiences — they understand art.’ Wilson, 75, who performs at the Hammersmith Apollo tonight, seems to have at least one royal on side.
‘I think Prince Harry will come along to a show this week,’ says Wilson, who spent two years in the Seventies as a reclusive drug addict.
‘It’s a great thing he has done in talking about mental health, which I have tried to do as well.’
