Let Diana rest in peace
IT IS very sad that more intimate details of Princess Diana’s life are to be aired on Channel 4 (Mail). Twenty years on, and there’s still no sign that she can rest in peace.
It is a lesson for us all that once Pandora’s box has been opened, the consequences have to be endured. Diana opened the box with her infamous appearance on Panorama.
Her brother Earl Spencer followed with his hypocritical eulogy at her funeral and later with his criticism of the Palace for ‘forcing’ the young Princes to walk in their mother’s funeral procession.
In their innocence, William and Harry decided to mark the anniversary of Diana’s death by sharing their innermost thoughts. This was done with the best of intentions, but unwittingly it allowed Channel 4 to jump on the bandwagon.
The Princes should have kept their feelings private. I was once given this good advice: ‘Don’t tell the world your problems — half the people couldn’t care less and the other half are glad you have them.’

I ECHO Earl Spencer’s wish that the Diana tapes should not be shown on TV. Let the ghouls find alternative entertainment.
