Ultimate sacrifice

ONE hundred years ago in 1917, hundreds of thousands of young men were transported to a foreign field to serve their country, with many making the ultimate sacrifice.

Move forward 100 years to 2017, with young men fighting on the streets of Hackney, carrying arms for protection and selling drugs because they don’t want to work.

The sacrifice made by so many young men a century ago has created a society they would not recognise.
