Anything but Glorious
GOOdwOOd and their £5million-a-year title sponsors Qatar have shown exactly what they think about the racing press by commandeering the superbly appointed media room with its views over the South downs for sponsors’ hospitality. Journalists have been rehoused in a concrete dungeon, shoe-horned above a toilet block with no outside windows.
The racing press, rather than accept this scandalous treatment — faulty air-conditioning seemingly shared with the downstairs urinals led to a number of journalists feeling ill last year — should give no mention to ‘Glorious Goodwood’ or Qatar until they are properly accommodated. Glorious it ain’t. Goodwood’s management declined to comment.
THE most remarkable aspect of the Usain Bolt documentary I Am Bolt shown on the BBC this week is that it even portrays his odious agent Ricky Simms, who also represents Mo Farah, as a pleasant individual. Nothing could be further from the truth.
