Torn denim shorts over jeans: A £400 rip-off?
FINDING the perfect pair of jeans can be a tiresome ordeal – especially when different cuts continue to come in and out of style.
But wearing baggy ripped denim shorts on top of jeans is perhaps one trend we won’t be trying to copy.
The odd outfit, which costs £395 at Selfridges, comprises a pair of loose fitting knee-length denim shorts over a pair of straight-leg jeans.
The item, which is sold out in every size except a medium, is styled on the website with an oversized denim jacket, a black top and kitten heels. The product description even ‘dares’ the customer to wear the bold trousers with more denim – or play it safe with a button-down shirt.
Ukrainian Ksenia Schnaider has designed more than ten variations of the ‘demi-cut jeans’, which use ‘raw seams’ and holes at the knees for a vintage feel.
Italian designer and model Eleonora Carisi has been pictured wearing the unusual items. It-girl Gigi Hadid, 22, has also been seen in R13 ‘double classic shredded hems’ – on the brand’s website for £525 or online at Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.
