Car hire scam

I KNOW that car rental firms don’t do the repairs you pay for (Mail).

Two weeks after I returned a hire car in Spain, I was sent a blurred photo showing a dirty door panel I had supposedly damaged and was informed the firm would be looking to recover the costs from me.

I sent the hire firm a video of the undamaged car after I had washed and returned it. No further action was taken against me. I informed my insurance company of the potential fraud, but it wasn’t interested.
