Lightly raced Harlequeen can still rule

-

THIS has been a Glorious Goodwood with plenty of surprise results so far and that trend could carry on today with HARLEQUEEN. Mick Channon’s filly can be a really interesting contender for the Markel Insurance Fillies’’ StakesSt k despited it a longl absenceb from the track. She has not been seen racing since being well beaten in the Yorkshire Oaks at last season’s York Ebor fixture. You have to go back to September 2015 for her one career win here but, although unsuccessful, her runs last year were definitely full of credit. Those performances included third behind the brilliant Minding in the 2016 Oaks at Epsom and another third to Seventh Heaven in the Irish Oaks at the Curragh. Those runs just about make her the form pick here and, with in-form Silvestre De Sousa on board, she looks worth taking a chance on. Aidan O’Brien’s Dual 1,000 Guineas winner

WINTER is the favourite for the feature Nassau Stakes. After all yesterday’s rain, and trying further than a mile for the first time, she maybe does not look unbeatable — but three of her biggest rivals, Nezwaah, Shutter Speed and Wuheida have been pulled out. O’Brien also has a solid chance with two-yearold MAGICAL, who attempts to win a race the trainer landed last year with Rhododendron.
