Women flown in from Barcelona

-

AN Iranian man was jailed for 38 months last year after illegally helping asylum seekers into the UK using false documents.

Mostafa Rabeih Lalehka, left, was living in Cardiff when he helped four Iranian women and two children. He had already served three months for illegally entering the UK himself in 2006 after paying an agent £9,000. Lalehka was granted indefinite leave to remain.

The trial at Cardiff Crown Court in September last year heard how he would pay for the migrants’ flights, then accompany them to the UK from Barcelona.

The women had false documents for different stages of the journey but disposed of them when they got to a UK airport and sought asylum.

His defence said he was doing it to bring his wife over illegally.

He admitted two counts of helping an asylum seeker to enter the UK, one of attempting to help and money laundering, to the amount of £13,110.

The women he brought to the UK were granted leave to stay.
