ENTREPRENEUR Sir Peter Wood is set to pocket £ 5m from insurer Esure. The 70-year-old businessman founded the company in 2000 and helped turn it into one of the industry’s best performers, particu- larly well known for its female- focused Sheilas’ Wheels brand.

Wood, the firm’s chairman, owns a 30pc stake, meaning he will share in the £16.7m dividend bonanza announced yesterday.

He is thought to be worth £693m and has founded seven insurance businesses, including Direct Line.
