JUST a few episodes ago Ross Poldark’s daring rescue saved him from a French jail.
But if Lieutenant Hugh Armitage is grateful to the Army officer, then it seems he has a funny way of showing it.
For in this image from Poldark’s series finale, the aristocrat – played by model Josh Whitehouse – is in a passionate embrace with Captain Poldark’s wife Demelza.
It follows a declaration of love by the former prisoner of war.
As Demelza, played by Eleanor Tomlinson, arrives home from confronting her husband over his kiss with ex-fiancee Elizabeth Warleggan, Lieutenant Armitage tells her: ‘Can I make it any plainer?
‘I abandoned my squadron in the middle of a war to throw myself at your feet. Is there a more extravagant way I could declare my love?’
The affair, which is the first time Demelza has cheated on her husband, was revealed in the trailer for the finale of the BBC1 show’s third series.
However, fans will have to wait until tomorrow’s episode at 9pm to discover how it turns out.
