Saving the NHS? It’s a job for Gove
HEALTH Secretary Jeremy Hunt said this week that we can’t solve the problems of the NHS simply by throwing money at it.
I agree. It’s pointless increasing funding unless it’s carefully targeted, and other areas of waste are addressed. But the NHS can’t continue in its present form without more investment.
We need to have an honest conversation about what we want from our health service and what we are all willing to pay — and I’m just not sure Hunt is up to the job.
We need someone who will ask the questions that politicians have been too scared to broach. I can think of no one better than Michael Gove. He’s got the intelligence and courage it would take.
