BBC booze bill tops £100k
UNDER fire over the gender pay gap, BBC bosses could be forgiven for turning to drink.
A Freedom of Information request has revealed they spent at least £100,000 — or almost 700 licence fees — on alcohol in the past three years.
This is not even the full picture, as some money spent on ‘end of series parties’ and ‘in-house hospitality’ is not disclosed, nor money paid back to staff via expenses.
A spokesman says: ‘The BBC has strict rules around the purchase of alcohol, meaning costs have been cut by 40 per cent.’ Chin chin!
