Can I have a facelift without going under the knife?

- Dr Tracy Mountford

QI’M about to turn 50 and I’m not happy with the sagging skin around my jaw line. I don’t want to have a full facelift, but I’m worried a non-surgical option won’t be as effective. Can a non-invasive procedure produce results to rival surgery?

Asagging around the jaw line is caused by volume loss in the face as well as skin and muscle laxity. gum recession and bone loss in the skull also occur naturally as we age, reducing the amount of support in the face.

surgery will generally give the optimum lift, but for those who do not wish to undertake a major surgical procedure, an expert cosmetic doctor can get excellent results with a nonsurgical facelift.

There are a number of options, but a clever combination of subtle filler to underpin the face, combined with an ultrasound treatment to tighten the skin is what i’d recommend.

an ultrasound treatment such as Ultherapy stimulates and remodels collagen production. it uses image tracking to allow practitioners to see the tissues and skin layers on a screen, as they are performing the treatment. it is a one- off procedure and results last for 18-24 months.

Fees for filler start at £850 and fees for Ultherapy from £2,000.
