CRICKET has lost a great man in Doug Insole. He gave his life to the game and had a modern approach. But he didn’t always get it right. I recall when I was England coach and we were picking a successor as captain to Mike Atherton. ‘Whatever you do, don’t give it to our bloke,’ says Doug. He was talking about Nasser Hussain, who didn’t do too badly in the job.
