Asian invader that bites off heads
A handful of Asian hornets can devour a hive of thousands of bees in a couple of hours
They have a dark abdomen with a single yellow stripe, yellow legs and an orange head
They bite bees’ heads off, chewing the insects into pellets to feed to their offspring
Their sting contains venom which can be fatal to small animals and is very painful to humans
Queens are up to 1.1in long and workers 0.9in
