Sensational stones sparkle in Venice

STRUTTING through Venice in 1995 in a thigh-skimming scarlet dress by Jacques Azagury (above), toting a matching red bag and stilettos, Diana draped herself in rubies (of course). The necklace — rubies set in diamond clusters, with a single ruby drop at the front — was a late addition to her collection and may have been a gift from an admirer. While Diana and Charles were now separated, it would be another few months before their divorce was finalised and her love life then was strictly private.
