REISS

-

THE Duchess of Cambridge loves Reiss and, despite being almost twice her age, so do I.

It is hard to beat for modern classics at reasonable prices — especially for those who require a smart (but not dull) work wardrobe.

Only Reiss’s flagship store in Regent Street offers a personal shopping service.

I was surprised the chain offered one at all, as the shops are small enough to easily navigate by yourself and the shop assistants are usually more than willing to help. But I was impressed.

Having given some details ahead of my appointment, this was the only store to have prepared outfits in advance and to be in a position to present me with some choices on arrival.

I liked this because even if not all the outfits were quite right, it gave me something to do while the stylist popped off for more options, rather than leaving me waiting.

Its own-brand bags and shoes are styled to match the clothing and it was great to discover a pair of dove-grey, suede, block-heeled sandals that looked as good with dresses as with trousers and a jacket — rare when it comes to shoes.

Tea, coffee and prosecco were all on offer and, during my 90-minute slot, I could have happily bought three complete outfits. 5/5 Jacket, £120, top, £70, trousers, £45, and sandals, £85; Fluted sleeve dress, £70
