Be careful in the car today!

FRIDAY is the day we are most likely to be in a car crash, a study has revealed.

There were 453 accidents on Fridays, compared with an average of 387 on other days, between 2011 and 2015.

The riskiest hour is from 5 to 6pm, with 9 per cent of all crashes occurring in that period, analysis of 700,000 incidents by insurers Direct Line found. Sunday was the safest day with 24 per cent fewer crashes than average, about 300, because there are fewer cars on the road.

Gus Park, a managing director of Direct Line, said: ‘Towards the end of the week we are often tired, rushing to get home or away for the weekend, and this can lead to people not paying as much attention to the road conditions and their surroundings.’
